Baywear Clothing, a private company established in April 1952 by George Helliwell, is located in the city of Port Elizabeth, which is located on the South African south east coast. The city has an excellent modern harbour which handles all the containers for the local automotive and other industries as well as agricultural exports.
Baywear Clothing produces a range of knitted undergarments for infants, children and adults.
We are housed in a modern 2 850m2 premises incorporating a vertical knitting and sewing operation.
Our fabrics are produced on a range of 80 knitting machines using locally and internationally sourced yarns. The fabrics produced are 1 X 1 rib, rib tuck, rib transfer and interlock.
The sewing department consists of modern sewing machines with a strict upgrade policy in place.
A recruitment training programme for machine operators is followed to ensure quality standards are maintained, while providing flexiblity essential for adapting to the market.
